01 / Sushi

Meet Sushi, a nigiri with legs.

Sushi stands on the composer in the Sush harness, and around this site too. It breathes, it blinks, it floats along as you scroll, and it hides a few secrets. This page is where you can meet it properly.

02 / Meet Sushi

Salmon, rice, a band of nori, and a lot of heart.

Sushi is drawn on a 16 by 11 grid, one square per pixel, straight in code. It's the same sprite the desktop app uses, so it stays crisp at any size. Rosy cheeks, two square eyes, four little legs. In dark mode it gets sleepy.

03 / Playground

Go on, poke it.

Put Sushi in a mood, point its eyes, or teach it a trick. Then go looking for the easter eggs hidden around the site. Every one you set off gets ticked off below, in this browser.

Looking only shows while Sushi is idle or walking; lost Sushi looks around on its own. If your device asks for reduced motion, Sushi stands still, but everything else works.

04 / Why Sushi

The name came first. The nigiri followed.

Say Sush out loud and you're one letter from lunch. Once we heard it, Sushi more or less drew itself.

A

A face for the work

The harness edits files and runs commands in your folders. That's a lot to trust to a blinking cursor, so we gave the composer someone to look at.

B

Made by people

Sush is two people in Chennai. We wanted it to feel made by hand, not by a platform, and nothing says that like a nigiri with legs.

C

Pixels on purpose

A tiny sprite drawn in code weighs nothing, scales without blurring, and is easy to teach new tricks. It's how Sushi ended up all over this site.
